Police in China changes Mercedes-Benz ML350 into Honda CR-V

You've gotta be kidding me....
Police in the good city of Fengchenggang in Guangxi Province re-badged their Mercedes-Benz ML350 into a Honda CR-V. There is a lot of criticism in China lately about local governments who waste taxpayers money. Police in Fengchanggang so made some changes to their 900.000 yuan ML350, a Honda CR-V only costs 200.000 yuan.

But the plan went wrong. Citizens of Fengchenggang were not to be fooled and posted pics of the Benz CR-V on the internet where ‘netizens’ had a field day ridiculing the local government as hard as they could. Best part: the police flatly denied they made any changes to their car. I guess it depends on what you call a ‘change’…

Mercedes Benz Hybrid Cars

The Mercedes ML450 is only accessible for lease-either 36 or 60 months at $659 or $549 per month, respectively. Mercedes cited "limited supply of batteries" as the reason.
Mercedes Benz Hybrid Cars

Mercedes-Benz has long been identified for its diesels. Actually, it introduced the 260D, the world’s first passenger auto powered by a diesel engine, back in 1936. But proud of its reputation for advanced technology in general, it has been hedging its bets with hybrids also.MERCEDES BENZ HYBRID CARS

2010 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG E-Cell Concept Review with Images

Mercedes Benz had about a year back declared plans to build a fully electric version of their SLS AMG supercar. They have kept to their word and revealed a proto type model of the car which they have named as “SLS AMG E-Cell”.

Four electric motors each placed near the wheels replace the original 571 hp 6.3 liter V8 petrol engine of the SLS AMG. The four separate motors provide heightened effectivity to the vehicle and make it a proper four wheel drive car. Mercedes has used this technology as compared to the wheel hub motors there is reduction in unsprung mass and that too of substantial amount.

The combined effect of the four motor produces 392 kW of power which is equivalent to 526 hp. It also produces a maximum 880 Nm or 649 lb-ft. of torque and the best thing is, all of this torque is available right from the moment the motor starts.

With its zero emission advantage comes the other advantage of high pick up speeds, making the 0 to 100 kmph (62 mph) sprint in just 4 seconds.

The additional front-wheel drive called for a newly designed front axle: unlike the series production vehicle with AMG V8 engine, which has a double wishbone axle, the SLS AMG E-CELL features an independent multilink suspension with pushrod damper struts. This is because the vertically-arranged damper struts in the series SLS had to make way for the additional drive shafts. As is usual in a wide variety of racing vehicles, horizontal damper struts are now used, which are operated via separate push rods and transfer levers.

Thanks to this sophisticated front-axle design, which has already been tried and tested in the racing world, the agility and driving dynamics of the electrically-powered SLS AMG attain the same high levels as the V8 variant. Another distinguishing feature is the speed-sensitive power steering with rack-and-pinion steering gear: the power assistance is implemented electrohydraulically rather than just hydraulically.

The transformation from gasoline to electric super sports car also called for some specific changes to the interior. As a result, the AMG instrument cluster and center console in particular both feature a new design. The new AMG instrument cluster provides information on speed, charge status of the battery and the estimated range. The newly designed center console now houses a 10-inch touchscreen, which driver and passenger can use to conveniently operate all of the audio, climate and navigation functions, and also obtain information on the flow of power from the four electric motors.

The AMG Drive Unit, which is angled towards the driver, houses buttons for starting the motor, and the ESP® functions, the AMG memory function and the extendable front splitter and rear spoiler. Using three new buttons, the driver can switch simply between P, R and D. The park setting is also enabled automatically by switching the electric motors off.

The interior appointments are dominated by high-quality premium leather in a black/white color combination - it has been used not only on the sports seats, the performance leather/alcantara steering wheel and the door linings, but also on the broad center console which runs towards the back of the vehicle between the seats.

Mercedes Benz CL-Class Reviews with Pictures

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is underway, and Mercedes-Benz has taken the opportunity of being in front of some of the world's preeminent gearheads and car-lovers to unveil the 2011 CL-Class. The flagship coupe offers a brawny V-8, reduced emissions, and an updated look, and it's coming to America this fall. To add to the fun, they've surprised us and kept the CL name, rather than changing to S-Class Coupe as we'd expected.
In the interior, too, Mercedes-Benz developers and designers perfected the
CL-Class, paying careful attention to detail. A total of four different kinds of fine
wood open up the possibilities for perfectly matched material and color concepts:
a choice of light or dark high-gloss burl walnut, black ash and high-gloss brown
poplar on the CL600. Important to note: in accordance with Mercedes-Benz’
corporate philosophy of sustainability, the CL-Class uses only European wood
from renewable forestry sources. Most of the wood components are hand-made
and matched individually for color and grain by experienced craftsmen.

Powered by a 429-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 engine in CL550 4MATIC trim, the new car cuts fuel use by 10-15 percent, according to Mercedes, while at the same time reducing CO2 emissions by up to 23 percent over the naturally-aspirated 6.3-liter engine it replaces. The jump comes largely from the use of their new BlueDIRECT direct injection system. Acceleration is brisk, cutting to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds--half a second quicker than its predecessor.

The CL600, the flagship model, gets its motivation from a 510-horsepower twin-turbo V-12, delivering 612 pound-feet of torque. The CL600 shaves 0.4 seconds off the CL550's time, hitting 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

Mercedes Benz CL-Class Inside
The Drive-dynamic multicontour seats and the rear seats are upholstered with
particularly supple leather, decorated with a special V12 fluting pattern, as is the
Alcantara roof liner. Among other things, the upper and lower sections of the
dashboard, the door center panels, rear shelf and ruffled pockets on driver and
front passenger backrest are covered in this high-quality leather. Apart from the
roof liner, the interior trim of the A, B and C pillars is also clothed in Alcantara
leather. Luxury head restraints at front and rear bearing the V12 emblem also
enhance interior comfort. The V12 symbol on the backrests makes reference to
the exclusive character of the vehicle. On entry, the a V12 emblem is displayed in
the instrument cluster. Trim elements in fine high-gloss brown poplar wood,
chrome-plated door sills and trunk sill, together with the standard ambient
lighting, round off the serene character of the Mercedes-Benz CL600.
